Here, the holiday is a family affair, a time when the veil between worlds is believed to be at its thinnest, and spirits of loved ones return home. The city becomes a living altar, adorned with millions of marigolds, intricate sand tapestries, and candlelit cemeteries where families gather to remember and celebrate life.

Our 6-day, 5-night MOTM Retreat is led by two bilingual guides—one U.S.-based Latina and one native Oaxaqueña—ensuring Aventureras (women 21+) receive a truly local and insightful perspective. Day 1: Aventureras Arrive!
Arrival in Oaxaca City: Settle into your beautiful lodging in the heart of Oaxaca's historic downtown.
Welcome Dinner: Mingle with fellow "Aventureras" at Terraza Los Amantes*, enjoying authentic Oaxacan food and drinks with great views!
Day 2: Carving Lasting Memories
Artisan Workshop: Participate in a hands-on Día de Muertos-themed wood engraving workshop, creating a piece of art to take home.
City Parades: Experience the magic of the "comparsas" (parades) as they take over the city streets with music, costumes, and joy.
Day 3: The Golden Path of Marigolds
Visit to Cempasúchil Fields: Journey to the breathtaking Cultivos El Viejo to walk through fields of cempasúchil (marigold) flowers, a key symbol of the holiday. These flowers are believed to guide the spirits home.
Night of Celebration: Enjoy free time to explore the city's unique arts and crafts scene before reuniting for a vibrant night out, soaking in the festive atmosphere.
Day 4: Ancestral Connection
Ofrenda Workshop: Learn the sacred tradition of creating an "ofrenda" (altar) to honor departed loved ones.
Cemetery Visit: Venture to a nearby village like San Agustín Etla to witness the profound and beautiful nightly vigils in the cemeteries, a truly moving and authentic experience.
Day 5: Unforgettable Love & Farewell
Day of Reflection: Wander through the city to reflect on your journey, either solo or with new MOTM Aventurera friends!
Final Group Dinner: We'll share one last meal together at a local pueblo (small town), celebrating the life, love, and memories we've created in Oaxaca over an authentic Oaxacan meal.
Day 6: Aventureras Depart
Enjoy a final breakfast before being transported to the airport, carrying new friendships and an "Amor Eterno" for Oaxaca.
